OKC seems to be gaining an abundance of fine contemporary architecture. I thought I would highlight some of that. We should do more highlighting of this from time to time. We don't seem to notice so many of our architectural masterpieces that AREN'T Art Deco or Victorian. Without much further ado, here's a handful of pics I was able to find around the Internet real quick of OKC's best examples of contemporary architecture. And let me SPECIFY that just because a building is new and all, does not make it a great example of contemporary. I'm talking about abstract, stuff that stands out..

I don't recognize the third photo. Where is that? Also, the last image is a building I like, but I think a lot of people don't know its even there.
What about the Oklahoma History Center?
The 3rd photo is the Fred Jones Museum of Art in Norman--if you've never been, it's in the far NW corner of OU's campus, and it's a must-see if you're interested in Picasso, Renoir, Degas, Money, and other European masters. Probably the state's best art museum outside of Tulsa.
The ol' Oklahoma History Center is a design I really hate, but I think it's supposed to look like classical revival architecture, and the contemporary twist that they attempted to pull...just no. lol
Wow. I never even began to think of it like this.
You know, I would see a new proposal and I would think, nice modern design. But to see all of them in mass like this really hits me and its really cool to see the popularity of this type of architecture. It really is my favorite.
It really is neat to see everything like that altogether. It gives you a good image of what and how everything is being designed. I love the modern look OKC is attempting and seems to be accomplishing.
A very impressive list of contemporary architecture for OKC. I am more of a classicist, myself, but some modern structures are also needed in every city, provided they look nice.
Thanks for the great list!!!
What is the very first photo?
My favorite contemporary/modern building is the Federal Building. Lots of very unique features.
That's the East Village loft project in Norman, SE 12th and Lindsey. There will be 3 of those buildings, and then about 100 townhouses behind the project.
Most of those places, I don't recognize too bad you didn't label them.
We still haven't ventured out to Pops but hope to once the weather gets nicer.

Here's what I should have done when I first posted this. This will help if anyone has no idea what they're looking at.
